Maserati will be launching the Maserati GranCabrio at Frankfurt
It’s taken Maserati a year or three to cobble together the Convertible GranTurismo, but they’ve finally got there and the new car is Christened – The Maserati GranCabrio – and will launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. Unlike its cousin the Ferrari California, the GranCabrio gets a folding rag-top instead of a tin-top, which should help keep the inevitable weight gains for a cabrio in check. THE NUMBER of women convicted of drink-driving has almost doubled in recent years, a survey has shown. Women accounted for 9% of drink-drive convictions in 1998, but this figure had risen to 17% by 2012, the survey revealed. From car insurance company Direct Line and transport organisation the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, the survey also showed that 17% of female motorists thought they had driven while over the legal alcohol limit in the past year.

Created by a new company, David Brown Automotive, the Speedback is a prototype built on a Jaguar XKR platform with the aim of delivering a “vision of a classic-looking sports car without compromising modern convenience and features.”
Drive comes from the XKR's supercharged 5.0-liter V8, unmodified and boasting 510 hp and 461 lb-ft, mated to a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. The 3,968 lb. curb weight is very similar to that of the donor car, so performance and economy figures are also similar: 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed limited to 155 mph.
